Transition House is seeking a creative, compassionate, and reliable Children’s Program Leader to join our evening program for children living in shelter.
Days and Hours: Monday-Thursday evenings (4:30pm-8:30pm), and an occasion Saturday field trip.
About Us: Transition House is the only family homeless shelter in the Santa Barbara community. Our programs for children are intended to provide a safe place where children can learn and create healthy habits, relationships, and most of all have fun!
About the Role: This position is 16 hours per week; Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-8:30pm and an occasional Saturday field trip. Responsibilities include:
Lead activities for children ages 0–12 (games, art, reading, etc.)
Create a warm, safe, and inclusive environment
Support children’s social-emotional needs
Collaborate with other staff and volunteers to implement a trauma-informed curriculum
Set up and clean up activity space
Participate in occasional field trips
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
Experience working with children
Outgoing, dependable, and team-oriented
ECE units or trauma-informed care experience a plus
Must pass background check
